Go-live is the moment your firm starts working in Litify. A smooth one feels almost uneventful: staff log in, their matters are there, and work continues. That calm is the result of careful planning in the weeks before.
This checklist covers what your firm should do before, during, and after go-live.
Six to eight weeks before
- Confirm the go-live date with your implementation team and leadership, and check it against holidays, month-end work, and major deadlines.
- Hold a readiness check. Confirm that testing, data validation, and training are on track, and that the people you need will be available.
- Choose your champions: respected staff in each team who’ll help colleagues on day one.
- Plan training for every user, by role.
Two to four weeks before
- Finish user acceptance testing and resolve the issues that must be fixed before launch.
- Validate a full test migration of your data and documents.
- Set your data cutoff and decide how work will be handled during the move. See planning a data cutoff and freeze.
- Announce the plan to all staff: the date, what to finish beforehand, and where to get help.
- Confirm integrations, such as phone, e-signature, and email, are ready to switch over.
The week of go-live
- Hold a go/no-go meeting with the project team and your decision-makers.
- Send reminders about the cutoff and first-day logistics.
- Confirm who’s validating data during the go-live window, and when they’ll be needed.
- Prepare quick reference guides for common first-day tasks.
Go-live weekend
Many firms go live over a weekend, so the final migration and testing can happen while fewer people are working. Work stops in the old system at the cutoff, the final data and documents are moved, the configuration is deployed, and your validators check the results before users are given access.
Day one
- Make support easy to find. Staff should know exactly where to ask questions and report issues.
- Put champions on the floor to help colleagues in real time.
- Start with the essentials. Focus the first day on the tasks people do most.
- Collect issues in one place, with enough detail to act on quickly.
The first weeks
Expect close support in the first weeks: regular check-ins with your implementation team, a shared issue tracker, and quick fixes as people settle in. Keep a running list of improvement ideas, too. Many of the best ones come from users in their first month and can become a later phase.
Signs you’re ready
- Testing is complete and must-fix issues are resolved.
- Staff have validated migrated data and documents.
- Every user has been trained for their role.
- Staff know the cutoff plan and where to get help.
- Leadership has confirmed the go-live decision.

Frequently asked questions
When should we set our Litify go-live date?
Set a realistic go-live date after discovery, when requirements are clear, then confirm it in a readiness check six to eight weeks before launch.
Why do law firms go live on weekends?
A weekend gives the team time to complete the final migration, deploy the configuration, and validate results while fewer people are working.
What happens after go-live?
The first weeks include close support, a shared issue tracker, and quick fixes. After that, most firms move to ongoing support and plan any improvements for a later phase.
